AquaSafeStraw compared to H2O on Demand

Introduction

 

It often very hard to work out which filtration of purification product you should choose.  This is intended to help you the consumer to understand the difference between the AquaSafeStraw and the H20 on Demand.

H20 on Demand, was only found on a couple of retailers site one of which is www.safetycentral.com.

The AquaSafeStraw, www.aquasafestraw.com  that has been specifically designed for travelling, hiking and disaster situations.  The only product that is safe for all to use, irrespective of health conditions, known and unknown, due to its chemical free filtration system 

For the purpose of comparison, we are looking at AquaSafeStraw against H20 on Demand.


Filtration Methods

There was no obvious nformation on the internet regarding the filtration or purification methods on H20 on Demand product except stating it is an microbiological filter.

The AquaSafeStraw uses a polyethylene membrane that filters down to 0.2 micron, exceeding the US CDC recommendation of 1 micron to effectively remove Giardia and Cryptosporidium. The AquaSafeStraw removes 99.9999% of bacteria



Ease of Use

H20 on Demand and the AquaSafeStraw are very simple, easy and self evident products to use.

It is unknown whether H20 on Demand product keeps passing water once the filter is ineffective.

The AquaSafeStraw uses a membrane technology that filter out all (99.9999%) bacteria, Giardia and Cryptosporidium. Water WILL NOT pass through the AquaSafeStraw when no longer effective.

The AquaSafeStraw and H20 on Demand are immediately ready to use.


Bacteria and Virus removal properties

H20 on Demand does not state the effectiveness of removal of bacteria, Giardia or Cryptosporidium, though they do state it meets EPA guidelines.   Are you willing to take a chance?

The AquaSafeStraw filters out all Bacteria as well as Cryptosporidium and Giardia above to 0.2 microns exceeding the America’s Centre of Disease Control and prevention (www.cdc.gov) recommendation of filters to a minimum of 1 micron.  The AquaSafeStraw exceed this by a factor of 5.   Under strict international standard laboratory testing to EPA and CDC levels of testing, the AquaSafeStraw removed 99.9999% of bacteria, Giardia and Cryptosporidium.

AquaSafeCorp is about to release two new products, AquaSafeBottle and  AquaSafeStraw+, that filters down to 0.01 micron below the size of viruses.   


Reliability and state of mind

Both the H20 on Demand and AquaSafeStraw have past extensive testing to verify their specification when the product is in prime condition. 

It is difficult to access the major differences between the products regarding the effectiveness as there is little information on the web about the H2O on Demand.  We do know that

1. AquaSafeStraw stops working once the filter is congested.
2. AquaSafeStraw guarantees remove 99.99999%.
3. AquaSafeStraw is chemical fee therefore Safe for All.

Cost per gallon/litre

H20 on Demand is readily available to the public for single unit purchase, of $15.90 for 98 litres equating to 16.2 cents per litre.  AquaSafeStraw cost $44.95 for 500 litres (132 gallons) per unit working out to be 7 cents a litre or 26.5 cents per gallon. 


Portability

AquaSafeStraw is light weight (24g), 21cm long unit, 1.8cm diameter. The product can fit in your pocket.  The size H20 on Demand product 19 cm (7.5”) Height x 5.1 cm (2”) diameter and weighing 80 grams (2.8 oz) including bottle
