AQUASAFESTRAW COMPARED TO CRYSTAL QUEST

Introduction

Crystal Quest, www.Crystalquest.com , are a water filtration and purification devices predominately designed for home and commercial uses.   They have both chemical and non chemical based water filtration/purification products.

The AquaSafeStraw that has been specifically specifically designed for travelling, hiking and disaster situations.  The AquaSafeStraw is safe for all to use, irrespective of health conditions, known and unknown, due to its chemical free filtration system.

For the purpose of comparison, we are looking at AquaSaf eStraw against the Crystal Quest’s Camping/Travelling water filter.

Filtration Methods

The Crystal Quest Travel Filter uses a four stage process to filter water.  Starting with 1 micron membrane pre filter, followed by an Ion Exchange resign (KFD 55 and KFD 85), then a granulated activated carbon, and lastly another 1 micron membrane filter.

The AquaSafeStraw uses a polyethylene membrane that filters down to 0.2 micron, exceeding the US CDC recommendation of 1 micron to effectively remove Giardia and Cryptosporidium.  AquaSafeStraw is free of potentially harmful chemicals. The AquaSafeStraw will not allow water to pass through the device when the filter is no longer effective; this is a safe guard for you, ensuring that you know when to replace the straw. The AquaSafeStraw is safe for all to use.

Reliability and state of mind

Both the Crystal Quest and AquaSafeStraw have past extensive testing to verify their specification when the product is in prime condition

Cost per gallon/litre

Crystal Quest Travel costs $65 per unit and can filter for 18,900 litres (5000 gallons).  That’s an economical $0.03 per litre.  AquaSafeStraw is 7 cents /litre or 26.5 cents per gallon.

Portability

AquaSafeStraw is light weight (24g), 21cm long unit, 1.8cm diameter. The product can fit in your pocket.

Crystal Quest Traveller is much larger 2” by 11“, weighs 1.83kg (4 lbs).  The unit can only be used where there is a tap.  You also need to have piping to connect, making the unit significantly more cumbersome to carry. Not a truly portable system.

The AquaSafeStraw is a single part, personal, totally portable water filter.

Multi-part

The Crystal Quest products require some type of assembly and/or preparation then dismantling each time you want to use the product.

Speed to access of water

The time to obtain water from all the Crystal Quest products is significant as you need to connect to it to a tap.  Should a tap be available?  The connection of the units  would take at least 5 minutes to assemble.

The AquaSafeStraw is immediate for both usage and storage.

Bacteria and Virus removal properties

Crystal Quest products remove everything larger than 1 micron. Giardia and Cryptosporidium Cysts size start from 1 micron, have been shown to also be smaller in size.   America’s Centre of Disease Control and prevention (www.cdc.gov) recommendation of filters to a minimum of 1 micron.

The AquaSafeStraw filters out all Bacteria as well as Cryptosporidium and Giardia above to 0.2 microns exceeding the America’s Centre of Disease Control and prevention (www.cdc.gov) recommendation of filters to a minimum of 1 micron.  The AquaSafeStraw exceed this by a factor of 5.

AquaSafeCorp is about to release two new products, AquaSafeBottle and  AquaSafeStraw+, that filters down to 0.01 micron below the size of viruses.

How can AquaSafeStraw be so cost effective and be an effective water filtration system?

How does AquaSafeStraw be technologically advanced and be so price competitive?

AquaSafeCorp have taken state of the art materials and technologies, along with advanced manufacturing techniques (patented) to produce a cost effective advanced product.

Thursday, October 08, 2009

ON a recent travel tour to the US, an elderly couple travelled from the west coast to ending in New York on the West Coast.  It lasted for 4 ½ weeks.  They had an exceptional time.  What made it that much better, they didn’t get sick once unlike many of the older pensioners on the trip.  Most had some form of gastro for several days.  They put it down to use the Aqua Safe Bottle+.  The AquaSafeBottle takes out not only bacteria to 99.9999% it also takes out protozoa’s to 99.9999% and viruses to 99.99%. Read More...
